In the October issue of Woodturning Sue Harker makes a three spindle tazza, Bob Chapman makes a stylised seed pod, Gary Rance shows us how to make his spalted beech salt & pepper mills, Nick Arnull makes a decorated oval flask, Gabor Lacko shows you how to make your own thermed and involuted lamp stand as well as taking you through the steps to make your own step jaw chuck, before Tracy Owen turns a hollow form with a carved neck.

In terms of features this month, Tegan Foley speaks to lathe artist and sculptor, Derek Weidman, we spend 20 minutes finding out more about Kip Christensen, and Doug Fisher shares one of his wonderful wall sculptures with us.

The kit and tools section, as ever, is jam packed and includes a wide range of new tools and equipment for your workshop such as the Sweet 16 lathe from Robust Tools and a range of new tool catalogues from various manufacturers. Next, we review a new book and DVD for you to enjoy, Nick Arnull tests the PC 205E Powercrafter from Turners Retreat, Chris West looks at three pen turning tools from Ashley Iles, before Mark Baker looks at the brand new Galbert Caliper, Paul Hannaby looks at some small hollowing tools from Hamlet, in our mini test Mark Baker looks at the Thompson Tools fluteless gouge and finally, Mark Sanger puts the Lancelot 22-tooth chain saw blade from King Arthur Tools through its paces.
